What a great thread...and while I won't debate the issues of release amounts and profiteering, I will offer my opinion of best event to qualify for a Limited Edition...The Kentucky Derby. You have tradition, pageantry, history, gambling, and some suspense, all focused on The Greatest Two minutes in Sports.

Now there are several casinos participating in the release of Derby chips, which adds to the fun if not a bit of a strain on the wallet. Fortunately, the values have not skyrocketed like other LEs, allowing more collectors to gather them up. You see a wide variety of artworks, and while some of the release amounts are small, there are still plenty of chips available honoring the event. This allows collectors to pick-and-choose what they want, or try to get them all...like me.

For these reasons, I will try to limit (no pun) my LE purchases for this once a year event. However, if the HR had a Led Zeppelin release........
