In the early days of the chip board I was asked a similar question regarding quantities of chips being held by those who actually find them and sell them retail.

My response then (and several times since) is that I feel it's very important for our authors to be kept abreast of the actual quantities of new finds, especially in collecting areas such as Nevada, Atlantic City and the Caribbean (especially Cuba). I've had responses (and so have others) to such statements with: "Does Macy's tell Gimbles."

I've made it a practice to mention my exact quantities on this board; to TCR, my club magazine and in my eBay auctions when high-end material was found and being offered.

I only talk about chip deals and finds (and quantities) when I'm directly involved.

....and then is when you need to look out.
