Bob--just curious (if you know): Did your New Orleans friend obtain his $500 and $1000 chips at face value from the casino when it was open, or at a discount after it closed?
Technically the previous Harrah's Jazz corporation filed for bankruptcy, and its liabilities (including chips outstanding) would have been discharged in bankruptcy court. The new casino to be reopened is a different corporate structure, even though Harrah's is still involved. It seems odd that they would be allowed to use the old chips under these circumstances. (Although some unusual things happen from time to time in the Big Easy <g>.)
