A month or two ago I was asked to chair a committee to develop guidelines for the use of the CC>CC logo. I formed a committee and work was begun. It was soon pointed out by one of the committee members that the Club could only enforce any control over the use of the logo if they trademarked it. Otherwise, anyone could use the logo as they pleased. This concern was relayed to the Club's Board of Directors and I am waiting for a response.

There is currently a new concern about the use of the Club Logo on a chip being issed in connection with a privately run casino chip show in Reno. I have read through the posts and have purposely avoided saying anything due to the current status of the logo.

Here is a brief summarized view on how I would like the Club to authorize usage of the logo:

Non-Commercial Logo Usage - Club members are free to use the logo to indicate their membership in the Club. This would allow the logo to be used on web sites, stationary, business cards and the like. As long as the use is non-commercial and it clearly indicates membership status. An allowed exception would be the use of the Club Logo on a Club member's trade or sale list.

Commercial and other Logo Usage - When the use of the logo is for commercial purposes, that is for profit or promotion for a party other than the Club, Club permission is required. When the use of the logo is by a non Club member, Club permission is required.

In the case of the Reno show, I think that the promoters should have first asked for the Club's permission for the use of the logo.
