More than likely, it's because Lycos and other search engines use spiders to find sites, but spiders don't like frames. It will also keep the search engine from listing other pages within your site. Add meta-tags to the frameset and title, that should help. Also, putting links within the frameset will help the no-frames user and will give the spider something to read. I'll send you an email of some code that may also help. If it doesn't work, blame my wife!!!
Another thing you can do is submit your site to as many directories as possible. Just be careful as a lot of them charge fees, either monthly, annually, or even pay-per-click. ODP and Zeal are a couple that are free. Zeal will show up from an MSN search. With these, you can create your own description that shows up in the result of a search.
