Think of the chips and goodies that people get for pre-registering as a thank you for their not forgetting, or being too busy or whatever to support the club. If no one pre-registered and reserved hotel rooms at the host hotel in advance we couldn't have a convention. Having incentives for people to plan ahead is a great way to make sure we are able to have a successful convention.
