Hi Jim,
I saw your question earlier, but I didn't have any info at work with me.
We have one with 15 rings, that says 48 rooms
We have one with a smooth bottom, with 48 rooms
We have one with a smooth bottom, with 100 rooms (RVR-04)
We have one with 15 rings and 350 rooms, 1000 slots (RVR-05)
We have 2 with smooth bottoms, 350 rooms, 1000 slots
All of the above are black
We have a smoke glass one that has 1500 slots "rooms & suites" "6 cinemas", 10 rings
We have a clear one that has 10 rings, 1500 slots and 650 new hotel rooms (RVR-06)
We have a clear one (rings? smooth? didn't write it down!) that has over 1500 slots & video poker (this is the one where he's added video poker to the ashtray...also became Riverside Resort HOTEL & Casino). That's just the stackers...and we pretty much stopped buying them, because they're all so similar! (We don't really try to have every variation).
As you can see, there are several variations that aren't in the book. IMO the ones with 48 rooms are less commom than the ones with more rooms, but none of them are rare. *(Unless you are listing them on eBay...there is a special, definition of the word "rare" for eBay sellers).
Art Anderson's book was a wonderful guide for the ashtray collector. Like most of the books that we rely on, the first edition had a lot of gaps...unfortunately for collectors, there was no second edition. However, the first (only) edition is still better than nothing!
*Rare, as defined by many eBay sellers: "I have one, I don't know what I was thinking when I bought it....but now I have to make YOU want it."
