I wouldn't begrudge you guys at all Jim if I hadn't had to spend my Christmas of 1955 break with my cousins in East NY (Brooklyn). I forgot about Hodges...no natural ability...no great presence. Just good old hard work to become one of the best first baseman in baseball. I can remember him being pulled off the bag by a wild throw, but I never remember a ball getting by him. I have some great memories of those years. My Dad would take me to Yankee games one week & my Uncle to Dodger games another...if both were out of town we would watch Willie do something we never saw before at the Polo Grounds.
