I always take scans and copy them to my hard drive for personal reference, just so I know what certain chips look like. Then when I acquire the sought after chip, I scan that one and replace the "borrowed" image.

I think anyone using someone's scan that would result in profit or a public showing, would have the courtesy to ask first before using it.
