The Riviera pretty much fits the location that you describe. Going south a little bit further will put you at the Silver City casino (3001 Las Vegas Blvd.). It is more across the street from the Stardust (3000 Las Vegas Blvd.) than Slots-A-Fun and Circus-Circus. I point this out because it makes a difference if one wants to walk there in the noonday sun!
The Silver City sign is still there and the casino remains boarded-up, having closed in 1997. I have ashtrays from this place that advertise three casinos (Silver City, Silver Bird and one other whose name escapes me right now, it too was "Silver" something, I think). I also have a dim recollection that at one time Silver City was part of Circus Circus Enterprises (BUT! I could be wrong on that recollection.)
