An amusing incident happened that evening. Don Drysdale was at the airport to get an early start to the Dodgers' next away game. A reporter spotted him there and told him that Sandy had pitched a perfect game. To which Drysdale responded, "Did he win it?"

Of course, both Koufax and Drysdale were earning most of their victories with very few runs that season.
