I run a small freeware program called MailWasher. This allows me to view my e-mail on my ISP's mail server before I allow it to be downloaded. I don't start my e-mail program (Eudora) until I have disposed of any spam or other unwanted mail from the server. Easy to use, and the price is right.

I still run an up-to-date McAfee. I'm doubly protected this way.
