...when someone is overly critical of the work someone does without knowing all of the facts.
My second job is providing information for another area of interest that many would call a hobby. For most it is a hobby, though a small percentage make some or most of their living pursuing that hobby. One of the organizations has over 80,000 card carrying members.
Early on, I took most of the criticism to heart, and learned from it in many cases. Also early on, I learned to differentiate between people who were just whining, and those who had valid points.
It's been eight years since I first broke into this other hobby. For the most part, it has become easy to shrug of the unwarranted criticism, but there still will be the occasional critic that will get under my skin. The key to handling such situations is to not let them get too deeply under your skin. There are mesquito bites, and then there are what might feel like bull gores. It has become my experience that the difference between the two is how I allow myself take them.
