Mark,
"The List" is not a function of the SlabFree Chapter. We have members of the Chapter who have not signed the list. The slabfree chapter does not have the pledge as a requirment of membership.
The list is a list of people who have stated that they will not buy slabbed chips or deal with those who are involved with slabbed chips. It is currently being maintained by Andy Hughes. Andy Hughes was doing this before the Chapter existed.
The Chapter is not just a list. We will once again maintain a table at the convention to help educate chippers on why slabbing is bad for the hobby and promoting the collection of Slab Free chips.
As for a Token Free Chapter, I would not object to such a thing but there is no reason for it. Though I don't like tokens, token collecting doesn't adversly affect chip collectors, so what purpose would a token free chapter serve? Why would anybody join?
But again you go down the wrong path. You continue to insist that the debate is about what people should be allowed to collect. I say that we aren't telling anybody that they can't slab chips. You point to the list and say that the List prohibits people from slabbing.
The Pledge on the List is a voluntary statement from people who say they will not slab. Clearly you must agree that if I have the right to slab chips, I must also have the right to decide not to slab chips. The list goes on to say that I choose not to do business with those who slab or sell slabs. Clearly I have the right to decide with who I will do business. You can't possibly suggest that I have an obligation to buy chips from people who I don't like their business practices.
We choose to publicly state this Pledge with the hopes that individuals will decide not to deal in slabs.
The extertion of market pressures is exactly what is supposed to happen in a free capitalist society.
