Re: now slabbing, hurting the hobby or business?

Fortunately at this time slabbing is not hurting the hobby or business much because we have been pretty effective in keeping the slabbers out . . . So far.

But slabbing will hurt both the business and hobby aspects of chip collecting and the reason is that that the business aspect as people have discussed is about selling to and supplying to the hobbiests. When slabbing destroys the hobby it will also destroy the business.

I doubt you could name one chip dealer who is only in chips for the money/ the business is just a supplement to their hobby.

So while slabbing will artificially drive prices up and you might say "Well thats good for the business" you forget that the inflated prices affect the dealer who is also a collector.

Plus both the hobby and business aspects are damaged by the fraud and dishonesty that is inherent in the slabbing of casino chips.
