There's a difference between destroying a chip entirely by throwing it in the ocean and defacing it and then redeeming it at the casino cage. If enough people start doing the latter it might even cause some casinos to quit issuing LEs. If you were a casino manager and did
a limited edition of chips but ended up with most of them in the cage so defaced no one wanted them, would that make you want to keep issuing LEs?
