According to Hugh Shull, president of the association, the stand is a "fundamental one, aimed at furthering the concept of currency as a collectible, not an investment medium."
This statement and the subsequent 4 points about collectiblity vs. investment is some language we ought to seriously consider for CCGTCC. Would certainly apply to our Big Tent and be an added attraction to folks interested in joining. I think this would be an emphasis on the real reason most of us are in the hobby as well.
PULEEEEZE do not infer that this means buying and selling at a profit is contrary to the enjoyment of our hobby! Our chip dealer friends keep us supplied very well and their for-profit efforts are appreciated as well as the new issue service providers. The flea market find should reward the lucky hunter as well. The nature of some collectibles is that their value may rise, but that should only be considered a fortuant benefit to our hobby rather than a goal. I just want to keep the "$1000 chip" investment buyers out of the hobby and back at the slab factories where they came from.
