CCTN April-May-June 2001, page 49. "Market Report Spring 2001" by James Campiglia & Steve Wells
"Last, but not least, Rich Burgel of the Tropicana Gift Shop, uncovered the only three chips known from the Apache Casino. These are hotstamped chips with the Lcrown mold and no denomination, marked simply "Apache Casino". Many people did not believe that these chips existed, but others have searched for years. These were obtained from a previous employee of the Apache Bar (so named after the casino closed). This individual had rare matchbooks, a napkin, postcards, and other souvenirs from the Apache. The first sale exceeded $5000, which is more than any other hot stamped chip has ever sold for!...."
Accompanying the article are photos of 2 postcards, on one "ROULETTE Apache Casino Las Vegas, Nevada" on the other "CRAPS GAME Apache Casino Las Vegas, Nevada".
We have 3 matchbook covers from the Apache...one of them says "Apache Bar & Casino" on the back.
We also have several postcards that show the Apache. In at least 2 of them is a sign "Apache Casino".
Gene, I have great respect for your opinion, but this time I have to disagree.
