Gene, Gene the poker machine,
You are right on! A lammer is a piece of plastic with a number on it to keep track of cash or checks returned to or brought back from the cage. It is kept on the table and only returned to the tray AFTER the count balances with the "slip".
Brings back a cute story that happened to me 25 years ago - a pit boss was giving on the job training to a "new" pit boss. The "old" pit boss told the new pit boss to make sure you keep track of the $100.00 bills being dropped in the different table drop boxes. The new pit boss asked, Why? The old pit boss couldn't answer or didn't know the answer. I happen to be at the crap table and told the new pit boss - It's so "THEY" know which table has the most hundreds to make it easier to steal from. Neither pit boss found my statement humerous. However, the new IRS agent that was with me couldn't stop from laughing.
Gene or anyone do you know the answer as to why they keep track of the hundreds?
