I read an old Perry Mason book a year or two ago, and it mentioned one of the old downtown hotels (Apache, I think) a couple of times. I kept hoping for a reference to an ashtray....something like "As Perry stubbed out his cigarette, he noticed the phone number of 415 printed on the ashtray. Then it clicked! April 15, the date of the murder, was tax day!! NOW he knew the motive for the murder!!!" Well, Erle Stanley Gardner would have said it better.... "rofl"

Anyway, the Apache ashtray would be the Holy Grail of casino ashtrays, so I was hoping for a clue in the book. No such luck, though. Oh well, the Apache ashtray remains an unsolved mystery!
