I doubt it very much because the Asian particularly the Chinese don't like "purple" chips and color to wear but black is better than white which is death.

Of course there are so much superstitions in gambling among not only Asians but to other ethnic groups.

I am more incline to believe that the "cage cashiers" are learning the "basic trade" of "buy and sell".
