Re: Condition Description Plan
In Response To: Condition Description Plan ()

Marty- I'm happy to see that you took the time as the Club Secretary to post your welcomed comments on thechipboard.com. I think that we (the membership) who contribute our thoughts and feelings on this bb deserve to hear from our elected officers more frequently ... even if only periodically on the CC & GTCC message board.

It is interesting to note, that relatively few folks who regularly read this bb have contributed in any way to this important discussion. Perhaps most bb readers are only concerned with buying, selling, trading chips and E-bay.... and leave the controversial politics of the hobby for others to hash out.

I wish to thank the following people for speaking their minds on the "Official Conditions Descriptions" thread ... and also in the related "Grading vs. Slabbing" thread.

Nate Pincus, Andy Hughes, Gene Trimble, John Zoesch, Rich Hanover, Steve Picollo, Greg Susong, Jerry Birl, Chuck Smorse, Jim McFadden, John Benedict, Pete Sanders, Paul Brown and Greg Hale.

Some posts were thoughtful and provocative, others were subtle and not so subtle attempts at humor, some were simply anti-committee messages ... but all have contributed in some small way. Over 200 hits were recorded on several posts, but only a relative handful of voices were heard.

I think there is more to chipping than simply keeping one's mouth shut and only being concerned with buying, selling, trading, and lurking. One really can not get a true handle of what the majority of club members think and feel unless more of them are more open in their thought process by expressing themselves. The same applies to our five club officers.

Thank you and Nate for your posts on this subject matter.
