William,
There is a difference between round robins and shotgun swaps.
Round robins start with a specified number / denomination of chips and goes in turn to each participant. Each person takes what they want and replaces it with an equal number of the specified demonination chip then passes it on. Most rr are like this. There have been exception where there are multiple denominations in a rr. That type usually requires replace with a like denomination.
Shotgun swaps are when each participant sends chips (usually 3) to every other person playing. Shipments are made at the same time by everyone to everyone. A chip denomination is specified by the organizer.
