This was my first time visiting the cages for chips. Previously I simply scoped out a slow or empty craps table and hoped for the best.
Here is what I found:
The cage people (I think Jill calls them Cage Critters) I dealt with at Tropicana, Golden Gate, Aladdin, Bally's/Paris, Excalibur, NY NY and Caesars took the time to get me uncirculated chips. Others, like Golden Nugget, Fitz, Luxor, Venetian and Bellagio took the time to find the best ones that they had available to them.
Then there were places like Main Street Station and Binions where the Cage Critters were borderline rude. Binions would not sell the 25 centers from the cage and the craps dealer was, believe it or not, even worse than the Cage Lady.
Obviously the tokes varied greatly or were non existent.
The strategy I tried was to ask if they had any really nice or uncirculated chips and or obsoletes/foreigns available.
Getting the 50 centers off of the craps table at the El Cortez was the most interesting. I finally talked the nice lady out of two of them lol.
And for those of you who have stayed with me this far.......another option is to do what Tyrus and I did at the Palms. We bought two racks of the $1 chips......proceded to the food court and asked some nice man sitting alone if he minded if we spread the chips out over the portion of the table that he was not using to eat. Ace King Queen Jack 2001 2002. Find what you need and color up the rest.
