I seem to recall hearing that several of the terrorists were on the FBI watch list. Also others were here illegally. Other facts: 6 or seven single arab men bought first class one way seats from the same credit card for the 2 flights from Boston. Some only needed to know how to fly a jumbo, not take off or land. All of these facts, if there was a coordinated intelligence system would have set off alarms.
Of course the fact that we had virtually no intelligence in Europe where, it turns out, the information was there prior to 9/11.
Lastly, it would have helped if we infiltrated Al Queda with a 19 year old who may have found out what was happening in advance -- some one like John Walker Lindh -- what a joke that is!
This may have happened on another president's watch, however I have heard just too many stories from ex-intelligence officials of how the Clinton administration completely demoralized the intelligence agencies (NSA, CIA, FBI)
