…Crystal Palace & Mickey’s are closed. Las Vegas Cue Club however, just celebrated their 60th Anniversary. My good friend, Katy Scott now owns it. Below is my story about the Las Vegas Cue Club.
I moved here to Las Vegas in February 1980. But my first time going to the Las Vegas Cue Club was in 1977. At that time it had already been open for 13 years! I remember the year, because I stayed at the Silver Bird that trip coming here from Los Angeles. That site is now the Fontainebleau.
I was in the casino at the Silver Bird playing blackjack. A new dealer comes into the box & who is it, but none other than Ed Kelly! 😳 I knew Ed well enough to say hello to. We had first met in Los Angeles when I worked at Pete’s Family Billiards. 🎱 After a bit of talking about this & that, I asked him if there were any Pool Rooms in town. He steered me to the Cue Club, which was not far from the Silver Bird. I never brought my cue with me back in the 70’s when I came to Las Vegas. But I wanted to check it out. So I jumped in the rental car & headed over there. I don’t remember anything interesting going on while I was there. Hung around for less than an hour & had a drink.
Little did I know the place would still be there 47 years later! 😃
