SHOES!

Katie; During the Miss America parade on the A.C. Boardwalk ... prior to the big televised night at convention hall that everyone is familiar with .... the Miss A contestants ride on the back cowling of late model convertibles and hold up their decorated feet showing ridiculously looking shoes (lobster shoes from Maine .... gator shoes from Florida ...., potato shoes from Iowa .... and I'm sure Firemen's boots from New York this year .... as examples).

Years ago, the rowdy Boardwalk crowd of thousands used to holler out to the contestants as they passed by in the convertibles, "Show us your legs....!" Of course this was all before today's "political correctness" that has swept over this country.

Now to be politically correct, the message shouted out is ...; "Show us your shoes!" .... but the seated contestants still have to raise their legs high in the air to do that!
