Thanks for the poker story Barry, I love a well detailed poker hand. I think you played it correctly, I’m never getting away from an overpair on that flop, especially after you have put in 21k of your 31k which is below the avg stack to begin with. You got a smaller pair to call a pre flop 3bet which is what you want. Given he had you well covered I may have been tempted to just jam pre with the thought of picking up his 7k and the blinds without having to win a flip given his likely range. Also tough to get him off two overs or any type of draw on the flop with only 10k behind so he will likely be seeing all 5 cards in a flip situation lowering your odds of winning the hand. Lastly I know it’s a little unconventional but another thought is to just call the 7k and if an ace or three over cards to your 99 come out you can get away from it with a 23k stack in tack for a future hand. I realize given the flop that actually came out the outcome is still the same as you have an overpair to the board. Bottom line: gg Barry.
