So, as a resident and player in many of the card

Rooms both legal and illegal here is the story.

Texas looks at rooms that charge a rake as illegal gambling.

SO, technically the legal card rooms (poker only)
Made themselves private member clubs.

This is done either by charging a membership fee or charging people by the hour to be temporary members.

With that being said there are still a lot of “Illegal” rooms that do take a rake but they are largely overlooked by law enforcement.

I have played in many of these rooms with police officers and even judges before.

The problem come in when a club is accused of ripping people off, or participating in serving alcohol to minors or other offenses.

Hope that helps.
