Credit goes to Ron Gaudette for this suggestion, which has also been refined further.
Several weeks ago, Pam and I stopped by to visit with Ron Gaudette in Barstow California, on our way back from one of our frequent trips to/from Los Angeles/Las Vegas.
Ron showed me a spare laptop computer (running Windows 10) and a scanner with a CCD imaging device (not the one in Charles Kaplan's post), that he would like to loan to the MoGH for the duration of the Convention. His intended purpose is to have a ChipGuide Submission Station that would allow attendees to scan their acquisitions, in real time, for use on ChipGuide. This would be a self-service station, just to get the scan, and any ChipGuide Admin could further assist by loading said scans to ChipGuide.
Thank you Ron for this offer!
But, beyond that, this ChipGuide Submission Station will also allow for the scanning of MoGH donated "Inventory," some of which will be on-hand at the Convention and Show, as part of the Non-Competitive Exhibit, "Treasures from The MoGH's Vault". Principally, just as the MoGH had Sunday Silverman's massive donation of California Cardroom and Native American casino chips on display last year, this year we will have the sizable donation of Antique Poker chips from Travis Lewin. And, as time and personnel allow, we can scan some of these chips for the MoGH's Inventory.
And lastly, unless anyone has an additional idea, the ChipGuide Submission Station will also be used as a, "Who Wants to Learn How to Become a ChipGuide Admin?". Any CCA member, with a desire to be a ChipGuide Admin (or learn what being an Admin is like) we will have ChipGuide Admins available for training!
So, thanks again Ron, for the original concept to get the ChipGuide Submissions Station in operation for the 2024 CCA Convention and Show.
