Selling vs Auction?

It was my understanding that you were auctioning off all of John's collection as to maximize the profit for the estate? Not everyone is privy to knowing that John had a particular chip that he or she may want and by not selling it auction style you are limiting yourself to whatever someone "thinks" it is worth versus what the market will state it is worth. I spoke to John about his collection a few years ago and from our communications it sounded like it had some very desirable pieces. It would be a shame to not let other collectors have a shot at some great chips. I, as well as many other CA collectors will be at the convention and would probably pay top dollar for a lot of his stuff. Side deals and special requests is a disservice to his estate as well as all the time he spent putting the collection together IMHO.

Perhaps you can have an interest list on some of the more valuable items and then take blind bids or something? Anything is better than setting a guesstimate of value and missing out on major money for both you and the estate. California is extremely tricky as there are a lot of chips that don't look like much but are extremely rare and on everyones want list.

You and Cheryl have always been a great dealers and I know you will figure out something so that all interested parties can participate.
