I came to a CCGTCC convention in the early 2000's looking for 1 chip only - a $25 Hard Rock Sammy Hagar. I'd had no success finding one and was leaving the convention floor at closing time on Saturday. I walked past a dealer's table on my way out and noticed two young girls showing a dealer what appeared to be high end Hard Rock chips. I waited for then to leave and even though the show was over, I approached the dealer to ask if he had acquired the chip I was looking for. He replied that indeed he had. I'd been searching for the chip for a couple of years and made a vow to myself that I would not pay more than $999. When he I asked his price, he stated $1000. I tried to get it for $999 but he would not budge. So I paid the $1000 and had my chip. Over the years it still bothered me that I had not gotten it for $999. Fast forward about 15 years. I was at a SNCCC meeting and talking to Bob about Hard Rock chips. I knew Bob very well at that point. Somehow the topic of the Sammy Hagar chip came up and I related the $999/$1000 story to him. As it turned out Bob was that dealer who had sold me that chip may years ago. I jokingly mentioned that it still bothered me that I could not get the chip for $999. At that point Bob reached into his pocket and produced a $1 bill which he gave to me and asked "are you happy now"? We both had a good laugh over this. Bob was one of the nicest people I ever met in this hobby.
