I noticed a few old chips in the back section of Dale Seymour's book of antique poker chips and question whether some of the pictured chips ever really existed. I have a photo of a page from a Suydam catalog from 1880. there is a crown, elephant, horseshoe, anchor, cap and owl. I have these designs in this style, only mine have flopped artwork. Dale listed the anchor with the rope running to the right. The chip I have has the rope running to the left. I content that none of the chips in the old catalog ever really existed, only the reverse artwork versions were ever made. Has any collector of old chips ever noticed that?
