I have known Jim Follis for over twenty years and actually considered him a friend at one time. I want to share some recent examples of Jim’s behavior that should make you think twice before you cast your vote.
1. Just over a year ago I contacted him to make a donation to the MOGH. He told me that would be great but he had no time to pick them up. Over the next couple of weeks I called several times but he was always busy (In every call I could hear the sound of a casino in the background). Keep in mind this was not a small donation, there were over 550 framed items that once hung in The Casino Legends Hall of Fame (My cost exceeded $50,000). My thought was these would work great in the future museum. He never told me that the museum idea was scrapped. My next call was to Jerry Vergatos (President of the SNCCC) I asked him if he wanted the pictures and he said of course. He rented a U-haul and came the next day to pick them up. I instructed him to offer them to the club membership at very affordable prices so they all had an opportunity to enjoy them. He has raised thousands of dollars for the SNCCC and still has a couple of hundred framed artifacts left. How much money did Jim Follis cost the CCA? Is this who you want in a leadership position?
2. Most of you who read the chipboard probably remember that Rich Burgel made a post stating Jim Follis stole door handles from the Orleans Hotel & Casino and almost cost an employee her livelihood over room keys. I pleaded with Jim to file an ethics complaint for these slanderous statements and defamation of character. He refused, there must have been some truth to this horrific accusation. Is this who you want representing our club?
3. At last years convention Jim verbally attacked me for placing framed vintage photographs on an empty table. He accused me of attempting to use this space to sell my merchandise. I was actually setting the table up for our celebrity guest (Nelson Sardelli) who was there because of my personal relationship. I never did receive an apology from this crazed power hungry board member. If he can treat Steve Cutler like this is this who you want representing our club.
4. It is my understanding that Jim Follis was/is responsible for loaned and donated artifacts to the MOGH. I have been told by the persons involved that several items were lost or misplaced. The CCA had to make monetary restitution to these individuals. Again, how much money has Jim Follis cost the club?
I could list many other examples of incompetence and lack of leadership skills but I think I have made my point.
Your vote counts! Vote for someone that has vision and the will to bring it to fruition. Just because someone volunteers for everything doesn’t make him competent. If you don’t do things well, you will be held accountable.
