Man, if it weren't for the fact that complaints are around 2% of those who have signed up and are happy (well, not unhappy), I'd feel like I really peed in everyone's cheerios.
Over 200 people have signed up for the new message boards successfully. Per day, 30-50 of those login to see what's happening, and yes, even post things. If your problem with the boards is that you can't create an account or get signed in, just know you have a (nearly) 24/7 tech support person available to assist (yes, me). I've assisted maybe 15 people getting their accounts created. Most of that was helping them remember what username they signed up with (which gets emailed to you if you click "Forgot Password"). Some forgot their password (which can be reset within a minute if you click "Forgot Password"). Some said they never got the password reset link (most often because they have multiple email accounts and forgot which one they used to sign up with, and by shooting me a message, I can tell them which one they used OR switch their profile to use a different email address). There really are no other problems to be solved regarding signing up. The rest of the ~200 had no issues doing it on their own. Trust me when I say I can help you. But only if you want help.
As for the "I'm happy here", that's fine. Stay happy here. No one is suggesting that you MUST sign up for the CCA message boards, any more than the club would insist that every member attend the June convention. As long as David cares to keep it running, the Chip Board will be here for you. Comfortable, nice, and familiar.
The new message boards (in my opinion as I have no stats for the old message boards) appear to be more active than the old one. Posted images are right side up EVERY DANG TIME with no modification necessary. Users can "like" a post with a single click. No reply or special input codes needed. Users can direct message each other (and they are) within the system. Users can send other users emails with a single click and no "type in this code to get information that's not really restricted". The calendar WILL prove to be a valuable asset (if others don't post their own events this month, I've got about 12 to enter for them). Political (and other contentious) posts can be moved to another category (board hasn't approved this yet) so those who just want to do collectible stuff don't have to be annoyed. There are, and will always be, ZERO spammers. And if one sneaks through, I (and others) are here to squish them like bug. So, to suggest that the new boards don't solve issues/complaints that members have had about the old boards (and this site) is disingenuous at best. Tons of issues were immediately solved by implementing the new message boards.
Don't like the new message boards? Don't use 'em. Don't like Facebook? Don't use it? Don't like TikTok, Instagram, PokerChipForum, Pokerchipper, or the bevy of other social media platforms? That's fine. Antenna TV will be around for a long time and will be enjoyed for generation (singular) to come as well (I'm one of them, by the way).
For those of you who would like to ENCOURAGE participation in the CLUB's message boards, with all of the "bells & whistles" that us tech nerds (and some mortals) geek out over, let me help you get set up. Heck, you don't ever have to login after creating an account if you don't want to.
End of rant. I look forward to chatting with some of you this week and getting you connected.
