Mr. Scott I have some questions for you.
In trying to differentiate your Chapter of one from The SlabFree Chapter
You say:
(1) We will not be told what to do.
Clearly this suggests that the SlabFree Chapter tells people what to do. Of course this is not the case, the Chapter educates people as to why we believe slabbing is bad for the hobby. Even "The List" (which is not a part of the Chapter) does not tell others what to do . . . It is a statement of what I will and will not do. I say I will not buy chips from those who sell slabs, that is not me telling you not to slab. It is merely my way of advising you of how I choose to do business.
You Say:(2) We will make up our own minds
Again this is no different from the SlabFree Chapter. Membership is voluntary. We have made up our own minds.
You say:
(3) We will buy the chip...not the flip, holder, airtite or slab in which it resides.
Are you telling me that all those slabbed chips you have been trying to sell came with the slabs on them. You didn't buy the slab? I doubt that? You bought the slab that those chips reside in and now you are lying about it.
This is my favorite now coming up
You say: (4) We will not say that we will not buy sell or trade with others who do not believe in this freedom pledge. (We will make that decision on our own).
Again you have mixed up the Chapter and the list. But what I find interesting here is that you are not saying that you won't boycott others you are saying that you will not publiclly state it and you will make the decision on your own. WHY? You seem to have some misguided belief that it is wrong to encourage others to act in accordance with your beliefs. I agree it is wrong to force others to do so, but there is nothing wrong with encouraging them, or convincing them.
You say: (5) We will endeavor to keep this, and all other areas of our life, free from the pressure of others who will try to force their beliefs upon us.
One more time, our telling you that slabbing is bad for the hobby is not FORCE. Those who have publically stated that we will not deal with you are not forcing you to do anything, it is you who is in control. You want our business stop slabbing chips. You don't want our business then keep slabbing chips.
You say: Joining this list does not mean that you agree with the idea of slabbing. It simply means that you want to be able to make this and other decisions about chips on your own, without any outside interference.
Are you suggesting that those who have signed "The List" did not do so freely and of their own volition? Please show me the evidence of that claim.
Let me ask you some questions:
Why do you slab your chips. On a previous occasion I asked you what a certain grade meant and how was a chip graded and you told me that you did not know how the grade was arrived at. What value is that a chip that has been "certified" to match an unknown standard, that is not accepted by the hobby in general?
Why is it that no one who supports slabbing has been able to answer our objections except to claim that this is a freedom of choice issue?
