to both of you who've done many good things for the hobby, I have to disagree with you. Sure, the LE's have brought many people into the hobby, when they go to sell and do not get back the money they paid for them, the question is "will they remain members of our hobby"? I think the answer will, for the most part be NO. For those that can get these items at face value, that's great......then the $6-$7 they'll be offered when they try to sell will be OK. It's the rest of the group....the one's who pay $8, $9 and $10 or more for the chips when they're "hot" and have to settle for the $6 or $7 when they wish to sell that will be frustrated and leave.
Gene, you call this crap! If you were one of these individuals I'm sure you wouldn't think this was crap. You are fortunate enough that if you do collect LE's, you can get them at face.
This in no way is to disrespect the NIS individuals who provide a great service to those not local to casinos they wish to collect chips from. Please do not look at my comment from only one direction......the one that YOU may fall in to. In order to make a valid statement that affects ALL, you must look at the issue from ALL perspectives.
Archie, I agree 110%.....the prices of the old obsolete chips are way above most individuals pocketbooks and if they want to collect, they have to collect current house chips OR LE's. The number of these chips (barring hoards being found)is limited as well and only become available when a collector decides it's time to sell. These too will "dry-up" in time at ANY price.
Now I'm done......no more on the issue.
