The Freedom Chapter's Pledge:
(1) We will not be told what to do.
(2) We will make up our own minds
(3) We will buy the chip...not the flip, holder, airtite or slab in which it resides.
(4) We will not say that we will not buy sell or trade with others who do not believe in this freedom pledge. (We will make that decision on our own).
(5) We will endeavor to keep this, and all other areas of our life, free from the pressure of others who will try to force their beliefs upon us.
I encourage all who feel this way to join this list.
Joining this list does not mean that you agree with the idea of slabbing. It simply means that you want to be able to make this and other decisions about chips on your own, without any outside interference.
A note about slabbing and it's foe's:
In 1986 the slabbing and certification of coins came about mainly because so many dealers were either overgrading their coins or selling counterfeits. Even though many did not like this idea it is now a permanent part of our hobby. One area that needs mentioning is the Early American Copper Club. The members of this club have denounced slabbing for many of the same reasons that some chippers have. I have many customers who belong to the E.A.C. and sell them coins all of the time. Slabbed and unslabbed. They simply break the coins out for their collections. A chip does not know where it has been, it simply wants to make it's owner happy. The bottom line is we respect their position and they respect ours. This is not the same with some chip collectors. The coin slabbers and the E.A.C. Live in harmony. We trade sell and buy the coins not the holder they are in. Someday it will be the same in chips.
In the last year, through myself, or through people on my behalf I have bought or sold chips to 37 people on the "list". I think nothing of it. I wanted the chips so I bought them. I have no prejudice for ANY reason. I happen to be a chip collector in the coin Business who sells his extras to his clientel.
I am sure many post's will follow this yelling from the rooftops the injustice. Let them yell for I am free.
