I used to use Dbase. I had the date I got the chip, who from, the price and of course the location, state, and a description.
It got to be more effort than I wanted to deal with. But since you are starting with 100, it's a great time to start and keep up with new chips.
Sometimes I find that I already have a chip that I just picked up or traded for, then it goes in the Trade Box. So that's my simple system. If it's a duplicate or trader, it's in the trade box, if not it's in the collection.
I was also spending more for Dansco books (over 20 of them) than some of the chips, so I picked up plastic boxes that the Mfgs. used to sell chips, and each one holds 100 chips. Nice and space efficient, I can pull out the chips and look at them. The books are now for Wisconsin, Other than US, Nevada, Elko, Reno, Samples, and smaller catagories. Most of Las Vegas are by a box for $1, a box for $5, a box for $2.50s, and a box for LE's.
There is some nice software out there for collectors, and I'm sure someone will tell you about it. Probably the best solution and much better than the way I do it.
