U R spot on IMO

Slabbing/grading would only make sense for the rare items. To quote a well respected coin dealer, everything else is dreck!

Chippers have a chitload of dreck and the really good stuff has been faked so slabbing makes sense. Unsure if there would be enough volume to capture the interest of a PCGS or NCG type slabbing company though.
