In Atlantic City limited edition chips were big. Casinos were issuing lots of limited edition chips. Collectors waited in long lines at closed roulette tables, you can't buy chips from the cage in AC, in advance of the published release times. There were maybe 3 different new issue services in operation. AC Club meetings used to get 125 to 150 members to show up, many there just to catch up on recently issued LE's. Then, around 2005, NJ gaming control changed the accounting rules and required casinos to inventory LE's individually every month. Yes, AC casinos have to separate out all the LE's every month and inventory them. That stopped casinos from issuing LE's and pretty much killed the AC chip market. Up to 2005, AC casinos issued about 500 LE's, since then only 30.
