Been awhile since I posted one of these...
Anyone seen the new Wes Anderson movie on Netflix called "The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar"?
Personally, Wes Anderson movies are a little "out there" for my taste. I like a little more grounded story telling, but I can appreciate the effort. My wife likes his stuff so we sat down to give it a look.
Its a short story/movie about a couple of guys (Ben Kingsley and Benedict Cumberbatch) who gets extrasensory powers and how they use them. I won't give anything away, but there is a casino scene.
So, being a red blooded guy, I'm of course attracted to the eye candy. And of course what I mean is the CHIPS!
Cumberbatch enters the "Lord's House" casino (London I believe) carrying a stack of pink plaques.
In the back you can see the table he approaches with Ben Kingsley as dealer.
When he gets there, the camera pans down to the rack filled with chips which look like maybe "horsehead right" molds. They have inserts and inlay with the casino name, so it doesn't look like Anderson cut any costs with cheap knockoffs.
A view from the top also shows some other plaques around the table. I saw a white 100 pound and red 250.
The scene doesn't last too long, and he doesn't go back. Seems like a lot of effort and expense for a quick scene, but I guess that's Hollywood for you.
Overall, your mileage for the movie will vary on how much you are into those types of things. Like it or not, its only 40 minutes long so a pretty easy watch.
Curious what others think.
