I think the idea was to keep people from being able to post anonymously and/or hide behind a mask. Or maybe it was just to make the initial job of defining who's a member (and who isn't) easier. Once identification is established, maybe everyone can use whatever moniker they want? Again, that's a David/board decision.

That said, I'm pretty sure everyone knows who Pam G. is, so I can't really argue against using that myself. Would you do me a favor and post this in the suggestion box on the new forums so it can be followed up on? If you don't have an account, sign up and use Pam G as your Name for now.
