The main reason in the past to not go to an online version was that many of the older members did not have internet. Yes this was true even a few years ago but I think that is no longer the case. Also one concern was that there would be password sharing so fewer people would retain their membership. Not being a computer guru I don't know if that is still a concern. Maybe it could be set up to only work on one IP address per member? In any case you present a reasonable way to address the problem.
