However I have admittedly been drinking a fair amount of my favorite beverage so here goes. 😆
It is obvious to everyone that the club has been losing membership.
I don’t blame David Spragg, and I don’t blame Jerry Vergatos as the club has most likely been losing members since before I even became President.
There are a variety of reasons for this as it’s a different world we live in from 20 years ago.
But I don’t want to focus on the negativity, I want to look towards the future.
What can be done to reverse the trend?
15 years ago we started a membership recruitment & Retention committee.
Many of those ideas at that time were just not feasible but have we considered starting a similar one?
Who would volunteer to be on a committee that looks into membership and makes some suggestion on growing it and reversing the trend?
Knowing full well that some things just can’t be done, we can brainstorm ideas and maybe come up with some we haven’t thought of before
Now I know there are people that will say why should I care about the club?
But it is the CCA and local clubs around the country that have the ability to expose the hobby to so many others who might otherwise not be aware.
I personally believe that all clubs should support this effort as it benefits the hobby as a whole.
Let’s not spend energy on complaining, let’s see what we can do to change the hobby we all love.
Now this might just be the scotch talking, but I have given WAY too much time and effort to this club and this hobby to see it fail.
I sincerely hope others feel the same.
My apologies for the typos, but the combination of libations and these microscopic keys on my phone are making this difficult.
