We're used to calamities

Raining steadily all day but at around 6 PM, I suddenly heard the water rising in the street outside. About 2 1/2 feet rushing by at great speed. The water got up to the sidewalk beside my hosue but it hasn't gotten higher. The waters are covering the entire street, definitely not recommended for travel. We have flash floods like this every time it rains, and I used to ride a surfboard down the street b ut I'm too old -- errr, dignified -- to do those kind of stunts nowadays. Not much in the way of wiind - maybe 10 mph during "windy" times and dead calm during others. Right now the water is still rushing by, although I don't know where all of it is ending up. It's downright cold here - maybe 68 degrees - and I think this helps tame the storm.

That's about all I cam report for now.
