I'd appreciate it if only the people mentioned above comment on this although if chipguide admins from other areas wish to, then great as there are other things mentioned later that they may have an opinion about. Thanks.
Firstly, a massive thank you for the amount of work that has been put into updating and tidying up the UK section, I greatly appreciate it as it was needed and long overdue. Also, a special shout out to Raul (with no offence meant to any others) as I have made him “work hard for his money” what with adding new items, updating photos, adding trivial information and generally being a pain in the neck, I expect. Thanks for stepping up to the plate, Raul.
There are still a few tweaks needed but as there are some casinos that don’t fall under the common or usual criteria there will always be inconsistencies, it can’t be helped.
For instance, Playboy did not become the ISC, that is just where the ISC moved to from Berkeley Square and other casinos have moved addresses and become other casinos in the process (and it can’t be expected to list all known addresses either). Then there are clubs that were owned by different groups/companies most of which take that into account but there are some that don’t but again, whatever the guide decides is best works well enough for me as there is usually some reasoning behind their decision.
I am only asking about this here so that it can be seen that I have indeed asked but I totally understand if nobody wishes to comment.
Contrary to what has been incorrectly stated on here, I don’t care who has had it changed (or decided to), I just would like to understand the reasoning and logic behind whichever category the Playboy ND jetons will end up in. That's all that I am concerned about. Whichever it is doesn’t really matter but it would be great to be consistent whatever category they are eventually put in.
I realise that they are unusual in that they are ND jetons used on roulette and can see why they could be put in a couple of different categories (unlike other people that can’t seem to be able to comprehend that). The question is, which is more appropriate, being a jeton or being used on roulette (although not a chip)?
We pretty much know for sure that the Portsmouth ones were only used on French roulette and assume that the similar ones that are probably from London were also (well, it would make sense but again, others don’t seem to agree) but if that is the case then shouldn’t they be in the same category and not different ones? Maybe a special section should be created just for the ND roulette jetons although personally I don’t think so as it just creates more sections and so far, there are only a couple known. A bit like membership cards being listed under slot cards in the UK for instance.
As many jetons with a cash value were only used on roulette too, should they also be under roulette chips or have their own section as roulette jetons perhaps? The roulette chip section doesn’t actually state ND but it is taken as read due to their always being so but maybe it should have ND stated too.
What about NCV/free bet chips that were only allowed to be used on roulette (there are some but I can’t remember which) should they be under NCV, roulette or have another section created that covers both? Not my call to make and I’d actually think NCV chips is the best place for them.
The cash jetons listed in the handful of US casinos that used them are under jetons but were they only used on roulette? I thought so but probably not as casinos don’t like to turn away money in any form so they may have been accepted on other games too. If not, should they have their own section or should it be renamed?
As I’ve said, it doesn’t actually bother me either way but I like consistency and as the Playboy ones could be classed as jetons (used on roulette) OR (ND) roulette chips (or more correctly jetons) then whatever the guide decides is fine by me as long as it is consistent.
Sorry that this has been quite a long post but I like to cover all bases (and keep it relevant but with extra information so it's not just a boringly monotonous post) and hope that it makes sense why I am asking.
Thank for you time and consideration and keep up the good work.
