I've seen the article about the Playroom too although I can only assume that you are well versed in hard/soft gaming areas and about gaming and entertainment specifically having to be kept separate in those days (hence Playboy, Caesars in Luton and others having to make different entrances when the gaming act kicked in) so I wouldn't have thought that roulette was something that was utilised in that room. Maybe it was but until we hear from somebody who either worked or went there, we may never know. It shouldn't have been though.
I offered no "proof" or any mention of what wasn't at Portsmouth, just what they said WAS at the time they worked there.
Yes, some people in their 80s do indeed just wish to talk about what they want to talk about, which is fair enough, but facts (if any can be found) speak louder than waffle.
As previously stated, there were FR tables in London and Portsmouth which may (or may not) have had jetons but I'd be inclined to feel that they used that style and not the "clay" type. Just my opinion and others but as the HDN movie still showed, it's possible.
All I've tried to do is find out from various sources what was/is known and I think I'll leave it at that.
Good luck finding out more, I'm sure we'll hear when you do.
