Although I suppose it would depend on if he is still alive (which I hope he is), if somebody can manage to contact him and also if he remembers specifics, all of which are possible (and hopeful) but then I could provide a long list containing names of people who also worked there but they would have to fulfil the same criteria too. I found the original article that his name and the snippet from the beginning part shown were taken from not that long ago. It is dated 2016 so it’s also more than possible he still lives in the same place and he probably does know something about the tables as he was the Mr Do-it-all.

Another possible “person of interest” is mentioned in this article from the same newspaper.
And then there’s always Marilyn!?
Do we know where the information about the tables actually originated from?
Considering we didn’t know the actual date of opening (as you can see, they are contradictory on the guide, as shown above) until found in a Playtime magazine quite recently, it would be great to know where the amount of tables info was found as maybe it would shed more light on the matter just in case any more context was involved.
I’ve already passed over the information from an ex-Portsmouth Playboy employee that stated what and how many tables were there when she was there and I have also been told how small it was by somebody that went after Playboy, also mentioned on here, and I have no reason to question their recollections. Plus, you also have to take into account that casinos were required to have a certain amount of floor space (per table) which dictated the number of tables they were allowed to have. From what I can remember from my green licence course, it’s more than you would think as not only do you have to count the table/wheel area but also enough space for the punters, dealer (and later, chipping machines) and other such “trivial” reasons. Maybe the 4 roulettes mentioned were in the 10 years it was open and not all at one time?
The manager who poached me from the Vic in 1999 was ex-Playboy and I was told that he was well known for knowing lots of “useless” information about the London club although typically, I only found that out after he had passed away. Obviously, it’s a pity I didn’t know that then (although he moved on from the Connoisseur not long after I started anyway). I have contacted many of the older staff I know, and know of, and they have passed over names of others that they thought may be of some help but none have panned out so far. I’ve even spoken to the chap who did the Playtime magazine and who I was informed was an “expert” on Playboy but he couldn’t help with specifics about tables/chips/jetons/plaques as it was a small part of working at Playboy for many. As I’ve said before, most don’t remember about the chips, tables or other such “boring” stuff but they all invariably have some interesting tales to tell about other things they remember about the club and (mainly) the people.
I’ll keep asking people that may be able to help and if anybody does try contacting either of the people in the articles above then well done, I commend your diligence.
