The casino shot glass of the day is back after a long much needed family trip through beautiful northern New Mexico. Today's feature is from right down the road in Black Hawk and the old, now demolished Otto's Casino. This site is now a parking garage. On a site note, I have a large collection of historic ephemera and basically all things on paper from Central City/Gilpin County dating back to the 1860's. One part of that collection is ephemera from the Central City Opera Association which formed in 1932 and is still running today. I have a piece of paper of some sort from every opera season, from every year since 1932 as well as other items that feature Central Citys iconic opera house. Well what da ya know I found this Colorado souvenir type ashtray in Cimarron, Nm at a dusty old antique store with an image of said opera house. The tray was marked, "made in occupied Japan (1945-1952) The dealer wanted $16, I talked down to $12 with a beef jerky purchase!!
